GLI business expo a hit!

As someone who runs a business in Louisville, it can be a daunting task meeting new prospects and networking with other business owners. Luckily, an organization like GLI (Greater Louisville Inc) exists to help that process!

On Wednesday, May 21st, GLI (a.k.a. the chamber), held it’s “Launch Louisville Small Business Showcase” at the Fair and Expo Center.

Now, not attending a GLI event such as this before, I was leary because of the out-of-the-way location at which it was being held. How many people would leave work to attend this?

I was very pleasantly surprised! There were over 100 businesses represented with booths, and hundreds of more business owners and managers roaming around. It was one of the best opportunities I’ve had to meet the business community since opening our Louisville branch of Topix.

There were some businesses represented that were fairly new to Louisville, like People Plus Staffing. According to Adrian Boyd and Amanda Huddleston, both with that company, they had just opened up locally last October, but were actually celebrating the company’s 20th anniversary with offices throughout the state.

I also so spoke with Michelle Summers, Dana Rubina and Garen Stout of Price Data Systems, a company that markets financial and accounting software. They are celebrating their 30th year in business!

Like most businesses, i have a budget I need to stick to when it comes to marketing. However, there is almost no price too high to pay when you have the opportunity to meet this many business leaders in one setting.

If you do business in the Louisville Metro area, and are not a member of GLI, I highly suggest you look into.

If you don’t run a business in the Metro area, I still suggest you do business with those who are members of GLI. They are hard working people who strive to keep the economy rolling in Louiville.
